Our Goals

  • Strengthen housing protections for students navigating off-campus housing by partnering with Student Housing and Residence Life to improve access to supports and lobbying Mississauga City Council to reform housing policies and better protect renter rights in student-dense wards where international students face disproportionate exploitation.

  • Fight back against the recent changes to OSAP and the tuition freeze lift to alleviate financial burdens, improve access to education, and lobby to ensure institutional scholarships and grants adequately meet the needs of students.

  • Improve transit for UTM students by advocating to expand scheduling for MiWay Routes at UTM, 126 service into midday and late-night hours, pushing for greater frequency and reliability on Brampton Transit Route 199, and lobbying for new GO Bus connections to UTM.

  • Combat food insecurity by increasing the frequency of Free Dinner Fridays, increasing the distribution of free-meal vouchers at the Food Centre, introducing $5 lunch meal deals at the Blind Duck, and establishing a Grocery Bursary to support students facing food insecurity.

  • Establish a committee focused on global crises initiatives to progress campaigns aimed at liberation, collective resistance, partnering with organizations, and advocating against all forms of oppression, such as colonialism and imperialism, including in Palestine, Sudan, Congo, and Haiti.

  • Improve campus facilities and make spaces more culturally accessible by advocating for bidet installations in all buildings, establishing additional permanent multi-faith spaces, and lobbying to expand current catering services to allow student groups to source affordable, culturally diverse food for events.

  • Enhance student life by increasing collaborations with campus groups and cultural clubs by partnering on more social events and pub nights during Frosh Week and throughout the year, and establishing a Clubs Coalition to promote unity across campus groups.

  • Partner with Registrars and Student Unions tri-campus to amend the Second Attempt at Credit policy to extend to failed courses, lobby to eliminate exam deferral fees, and increase support for graduating students and recent graduates by developing a post-graduate survival guide.
